Franklin 1225
The Yachtman's (40 foot) Launch!
The criteria for the 1225 was exactly the same as for the 925, a good looking boat that will appeal to a wide range of people that want a sound, practical launch that offers high levels of comfort, excellent sea handling and great performance, but this time in 40 feet.
The 1225 Sedan is a large volume boat offering superb comfort and facilities for a couple and accommodation for up to eight. There are two standard interior layouts flowing over two levels, but we also are also able to customise the interior layouts to suit an owner's needs.
The standard layout, shown in the photos below, features an expansive, full size galley to starboard on the lower level, with the owner's double berth cabin behind a double acting sliding door to port .
Forward of this is the bunk room containing four generous bunks with storage under the lower bunks.
The large Saloon on the upper level contains the helmstation to starboard, with full settee behind, while the U shaped dinette with raise and lower table is located to port.
The huge cockpit is ideal size for entertaining, or for fishing or diving from. Whether you are a couple out together, with the family or entertaining friends, commuting, fishing or simply relaxing, the 1225 offers outstanding seagoing properties in a stylish, practical and well-equipped package.
“Bruce's design for our 1225 has hit the mark... and when combined with the expert build skills and attention to detail at Franklin Boats, it means we have another winner”

Construction and finish
The 1225 has been designed and built to withstand rugged sea conditions.
High Modulus of Auckland New Zealand specified the construction, calling upon their years of experience to develop a lightweight yet strong structure, precisely engineered to make light of heavy weather.
The interior structure is a composite of E glass laminated to marine ply with epoxy resins producing a light stiff boat that achieves high strength and performance for its weight.
Extensive use of carbon fibre in the under-hull running gear and boarding platform combines strength with weight saving, while the full-length keel is produced in a separate moulding and fastened in a traditional manner to the hull.
The exterior finish of the 1225 is finished to a high gloss with two pot polyurethane. While the standard hull and deck colour is white, the boot top, antifouling and nonskid deck surface colours can be chosen by you from a standard range.
The interior
With generous windows, the interior is light and airy with outstanding visibility from the helm station. Both forward side windows are sliding.
The interior finish of satin polyurethane is complemented with gloss finished, American Fleck Maple trimmed with Teak features throughout... and you can choose your upholstery and carpet colours from a range of stylish and durable fabrics and marine floor coverings.
The galley features a gimbaled two-burner stove with oven and grill together with an 85-litre capacity refrigerator, cavernous galley storage and a hot and cold water pressured system.
In the standard layout access to the combined shower and head (complete with vanity basin) is from the cockpit, ideal for keeping salt and sand from the interior. It features a solar powered vent... and the quickly-heated water cylinder ensures plenty of hot water is always on tap.
Cabin, deck and cockpit features
The Franklin 1225 is a true walkaround, and the full-size stainless steel bow rail offers you total security from cockpit to foredeck.
All decks, cockpit floor and cabin tops are finished in a tough, durable, non slip surface that gives excellent grip.
Extensive use of marine-grade stainless steel for the trim capping, toerails, and handrails create a winning combination of good looks and trouble-free maintenance.
The cockpit layout features plenty of storage for fenders, lines, rods and boat hooks, including twin side lockers/seats with squabs and a cavernous underfloor storage area accessed through a large floor hatch.
A boat apart from all others
The Franklin 1225 has extremely good specifications, featuring quality equipment and fittings throughout.
This dedication to quality, combined with the years of experience that Franklin's has had building offshore racing and cruising yachts, means you can be assured your 1225 will be superior in every way to any production counterpart.
Performance
The 1225 is powered by a single 375-hp Yanmar Model 6LYA inboard diesel, mounted amidships under the floor and driving via a straight shaft.
Top speed is 25 knots, with a cruising of 15 to 18 knots
