Serengeti is a full dual purpose yacht and includes such features as removable anchor points on the foredeck allowing the spinnaker pole to be lashed down to act as a bowsprit, also while cruising spinnaker is set up allowing it to be raised in a sock.
While racing the pole is simply used in the conventional method running on a track on the mast.
The furling unit is set under deck to allow for a deep low tack for racing head-sails that can be set and peeled using the double groove foil.
Construction utilises an efficient combination of Aramid (Kevlar) and E-Glass fibres over a PVC cores giving stiff and strong structure that is also extremely resistant to impact damage. The lifting keel is fitted into an integral box structure that effectively locks together the hull, deck and internal structure.
The interior lay out is extensive, providing a space that will suit three adult couples for extended periods.
Forward is the owner's cabin with a double berth with an adjacent en-suite head.
Located abeam to the keel case is the galley and navigation area making both these essential tasks possible in even heavy seaway. The main salon is spacious and has sitting room for up to eight adults and sleeping berths for two.
Aft of this area are two cabins and a common day head.
The inboard part of the settee, and adjacent adjacent cupboard on top of the engine box, can easily be removed, freeing up more space while racing allowing for easy storage of racing spinnakers and auxiliary sails essential on long ocean races. Three of the cockpit winches can be electrically driven, enabling easy trimming of main and head-sail in cruising mode. The grinder in pedestal in the middle of the cockpit is used in racing mode to drive the primary winches, this also provides the support for the cockpit table when racing is over and its time for the debrief.
