Madame gets a hard top
Extra comfort on Madame was called for...
Originally Madame had a soft top with clear sides (see first photo in slider below) but the owner found that this was noisy and not practical for comfortable boating in The Sounds.
The creation of an after market hardtop for Madame involved discussions with the owners on what they were looking for, then mocking up the general look of the final cabin.
Care was taken to ensure the final hard top would blend happily with the lower cabin and that Madame would look as if she was designed with the hard top from the outset.
The solid hard top would be similar in detail to the Franklin 925 Coupe, with a V jointed deck head, toughened glass windows.
The side windows will slide open, there would be windscreen wipers, ceiling mounted magazine and chart racks, a roof top mast with communication aerials mounted on it and loads of polished teak... all designed to make Madame a much more comfortable, pactical boat.
As a final touch, Madame would get a hull polish and new anti-fouling prior to being delivered back to her Motueka berth, where Franklin's staff had picked her up from.
Pick up and return trips are just another service that the yard offers boat owners.
Photo slider pictures show the original Madame with soft top - and progress of the make over from the initial mock up through to the completed hard top.
